Web Standards

26th April 2009

At the bottom of webpages we make you will see two links, XHTML and CSS. If you click a link it will take you to a third party page, they will show you if there are any errors on our webpage. This is your sign of quality, not all web developers ensure their sites are up to this standard.

All industries have standards, a good example is building codes, these have been established over time to ensure the function and saftey of our shelters. The internet is so new that these standards are evolving and not always enforced. Good web designers will be aware of these standards and provide you with webpages that adhere to international standards.

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is the international consortium dedicated to building consensus around Web technologies. The W3C creates Web standards and guidelines that you can validate your page against. It is intended to promote quality and ensure long-term growth for the Web.

What this means for you is that our webpages:

  • Reach more people - across more browsers and conditions, your webpage will still function correctly for your potential customers.
  • Last longer - as browsers and technology evolve your webpage will continue to function properly.
  • Easier to maintain and update - our attention to detail will mean we can update your pages quicker and new technologies can integrate easier, making your maintenance and upgrade costs lower.
  • Search engine friendly - In addition to making it easier for your customers to access the site, search engines can see your pages better too. Your products and your business will have better visibility.
